Chairman of the USS Enterprise Association and member since 2004. Married to Shirley Voorhies for 23 years, with 2 daughters, 2 step sons and 3 grandchildren. Currently living in Central City, CO. Enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1978 and served as a Machinegunner until 1981. Achieved the rank of Corporal (E-4) (meritoriously). Enlisted in the US Navy as an Electronics Technician (Nuclear Power Program).Served from 1981 till 1987 and achieved the rank of ET1 (E-6). Stationed aboard the USS Enterprise 1983-1987 in Reactor Controls Division. Deployed on 2 cruises to the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean. Achieved qualifications as a Sr. Reactor Operator and Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor. After military service, completed education and graduated from different colleges with an AS degree in Hazardous Materials Technology, BS degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology and MS degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Management. Currently working for Water Remediation Technology as the Corporate Radiation Safety Officer. Over 35 years of education and experience working for government and private industries as a Radiation Safety Technician, Project Safety Manager, Hazardous Materials Transportation Broker, Technical Instructor, Mine Safety Inspector, and Corporate Safety Director.
