CHAIRMAN’S Message

Greetings Shipmates and Families of the USS Enterprise
We are 6 months into 2026 and busier than I would’ve imagined. I hope your health and welfare are holding up well during this year. Enjoy this year and spend time with your family and friends. Our annual reunion in San Antonio is quickly approaching. The Association is celebrating our 40th anniversary this year.
Juan Martinez, his family and all of his support network are working very hard to put together a great gathering with events for all of us Enterprise Sailors and Marines. I am looking forward to having a good time, learning history, sharing stories and getting reacquainted with old friends. If I have one request for Juan, it is to please provide for some cool weather while we visit your fantastic city. I have been to San Antonio in the past and it can be a little bit warm with just a touch of humidity.
We have lots of business to discuss during our meetings. I am sure we will accomplish many things and see new looks. Scholarships have been requested and they are currently being evaluated. Tommy Bowden has the new Ship’s Store up and running on our website, with a few items for sale. He is regularly adding new merchandise and willAugust 2019 NEWSLETTER
And finally, our nation has asked our servicemen, from all services, to meet the call to duty in South America and the Middle East. Please think of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines in your thoughts and prayers. If you know of someone who is serving overseas, or you know their family who is anxiously awaiting their return, thank them for their service and welcome them home, with the warmest wishes that you can.
We will see you in San Antonio. Shirley and I send our love to all our Veteran friends. be adding more items before the reunion. Sadly, we will not have our memorabilia room set up this year, Bill and Linda Slupe are recovering from some medical issues that won’t allow them to travel. Please send all your prayers and especially your hugs to them for speedy recoveries. Also sad to note, is that we have lost a few shipmates this year, including some of our plank owners. We will honor all our lost shipmates during our memorial ceremony. Prayers and condolences have been sent to their families to help ease their pain.
